Pixelation – From digital blurring to textile design

In this project, I explored the digital phenomenon of pixelation and examined how this visual language can be translated into textile design and analogue processes.
I focused on creating pixel-like fragmentation through physical making methods such as printing on knitted fabric, unraveling the piece, and re-knitting the printed yarn. This process resulted in new patterns, which served as the basis for further developments in knitting and digital printing.
On the Stoll industrial knitting machine, I experi-mented with relief knitting and the use of elastic yarns, resulting in tactile interpretations of digital pixel aesthetics.

The outcome is a series of textile samples that explore various stages of pixelation – from defined shapes to abstract surfaces.
